Fashion construction and design – this course develops the talent of students in the field of fashion design. It is based on the combination of a modern artistic concept and meticulous craftsmanship. Students master a wide range of art disciplines, such as drawing of nature, landscapes, architecture, still life studies, heads and figure drawings. These are followed by stylization of designs and original textile techniques. Students learn to experiment with materials and technologies. They use their acquired knowledge and skills in designing and constructions of sophisticated and original clothes. They are taught to find their own inspiration and at the same time they should reflect the historical development and nature of fashion.

ENTRANCE EXAMINATION

Applicants must submit their application to study at the Secondary School of Applied Arts Uherské Hradiště by November 30th.

The entrance exam consists of a general talent test and another part of the admission procedure in the department chosen by the applicant. As a part of the admission procedure, in addition to the result of the applicant's talent test, the students ´ primary school grades are considered as well.

TALENT EXAM

Pencil or charcoal drawing on A2 wrapping paper. Applicants need their own drawing tools and a firm, flat A2 drawing board. The drawing paper will be provided at school. The time allowance for the task is 2 hours.

COURSE EXAM

Presentation of one's own previously created work in the range of max. 20 pieces. The portfolio must also be submitted in digital form in jpg format (the size of the longer side is 2000px and 72dpi) and marked with the name: surname_name_num­ber, under which the candidate is taking the exam_year of the exam.

BARBORA PROCHÁZKOVÁ

A Vlčnov native, a fashion designer and a graduate of the University of Applied Arts. With her atypical project, Sapience she breaks the established rules of fashion design. She shares her know-how and gives her customers the opportunity to create their own dream wardrobe. This appeals to the DIY community as well as to eco-minded millennials. In 2019, she won the Diploma Selection Fashion Design competition at Designblok fashion. Shortly after her Sapience project she won the Hlávka Prize for students and school graduates. In the prestigious Czech Grand Design competition, Procházková was nominated in the Discovery of the Year category. In 2017 and 2018, she became a finalist in the Bata Young Designer Challenge. She has shown her works in exhibitions in London, Brussels, Tokyo and New York. She graduated from the Secondary School of Applied Arts in 2012.

MICHAELA ČAPKOVÁ

Born in Zlín, a fashion designer, a graduate of the University of Applied Arts, teacher at the Institute of Fashion Design, creator of the MIM brand. She creates things aiming to change the everyday world as well as the artistic one. In 2018, after the success of the Soulmates raincoat collection, she presented the Artefacts collection in Maastricht, the Netherlands.This collection was inspired by the anniversary of the founding of Czechoslovakia. For the original series of models, she chose kanafas, a traditional Czech material. She then presented some models from the collection in Tokyo, where those pieces recieved a great response. She has also exhibited her clothes in Hamburg, Vienna and New York. In addition, she has worked in London at the prestigious Seven Tai studio and in Tibet. She graduated from the Secondary School of Applied Arts in 2010

MARKÉTA MARTIŠKOVÁ

A native of Vsetín, a fashion designer, a graduate of the Bratislava University of Fine Arts and Design and the Royal Academy in Antwerp. She is one of the greatest talents among young Czech designers. She relies on new techniques and poses a number of questions through her experimental creations. She likes fashion and its roots, because these make sense to her. She has won the competition for designers at the Prague Fashion Weekend twice, she has also succeeded in the competition for emerging designers the International Lab by Mittelmoda in Milan with her collection Absurd reality from recycled textile waste. The topic of recycling has also brought her together with the Klatex company, which produces non-woven textiles for the car and construction industries. She graduated from the Secondary School of Applied Arts in Uherské Hradiště in 2004.
