FAMOUS ALUMNI
TEREZA VLČKOVÁ
A native of Třebíč, one of the best contemporary Czech photographers, she is a teacher at the Institute of Creative Photography in Opava. Her style oscillates between free creation, reminiscent of everyday surrealism or Lynchian ghostliness, and perfectly technically mastered fashion photography. Vlčková has shown her works in numerous exhibitions, festivals and competitions in the Czech Republic and abroad. In addition to her achievements in Czech competitions, she has won the Biennale in Lyon, received the Portfolio Award in Sweden, and perhaps the most interesting achievement is being included among the 80 photographers of the new generation ReGeneration 2 in Lausanne. She graduated from the Secondary School of Applied Arts in Uherské Hradiště in 2003.
ONDŘEJ FILÍPEK
Born in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm, a photographer, a sculptor, a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. From the study of photography, he has shifted his attention to three-dimensional sculpture. He mainly works with concrete and plaster in combination with industrial objects and residual materials. When constructing a sculpture, he uses deformation which he combines with solid geometric shapes. He likes to revolt and disrupt the original sculptural order. The works of Ondřej Filípek were selected for the new permanent exhibition at the National Gallery Salm Modern #1: Possibilities of dialogue. His work was also presented by the Gallery of the Capital City of Prague in the Colloredo-Mansfeld Palace or the (A)void Floating Gallery. The young artist graduated from the Secondary School of Applied Arts in 2012.
PETRA MALÁ MILLER
Born in Třebíč, she is an art photographer and a graduate of the Prague University of Applied Arts. She currently lives and works in Lethbridge, Canada. In her work, she explores the poetics of childhood, innocence, memory and loss, and asks questions concerning cultural identity, identity of the individual, questions about family and community. Her works, often based on personal experience, are of reflexive-introspective character, they non-violently but intensively draw others into special poetics and imagination. The gifted artist has held numerous solo and group exhibitions in Europe, Canada and the United States. For her photographs, she received, among others, the VŠUP Studio Award, the Frame award, the ESSL Award CEE, the Canada Council for the Arts or the Alberta Foundation for the Arts. She graduated from the Secondary School of Applied Arts in Uherské Hradiště in 2001.
